請問深水埗大埔道崇真小學是否傳統教學的?  會否有很多功課?

Hi, my 2 boys are studying in Tsung Tsin English Primary School. One in P2 but in the international section; another one is in P3, but in the local main stream. Actually I want my elder son to study in the international section as well, but there is no place available.

Yes, there are quite a lot of homework in the local main stream. Well, the teaching methodology is a bit traditional. But most of the teachers are good, I believe, as they are Christians. So they have love for students. Yet I do appreciate on thing --- the reading atmosphere of the school is good. The school really encourages students to read and to write reports. So as a parent, u need to be prepared to help your child to read story books, to help and teach them to do book report. And everyday, they need to write "Daily Reflection" in Chinese and English on alternate week. For new parents, you might find it tough and very busy. But personally I think this is good.

My another son is in the international section. This one is much better in a sense that the size of the class is small, and there are 2 teachers in one class - one native English teacher and one native Mandarin assistant teacher. There is very good communication with the teacher as the parents can have frequent email and telephone conversation with the teachers. And it is easy for parents to voice out our concern. For the homework, if parents have any concern, we can talk to the teachers and the students can submit the homework later ......

Personally I will prefer international section definitely......

Basically the school is a good school. It really depends on what you want you child to achieve and whether this school is suitable for your child's character.

Besides, there are a lot of extracurricular activities for the students to join after school. And the school does give a lot of support to the students and teachers, esp the after-school tuition, such as English or Chinese Enhancement Program and homework assistance. But u need to pay extra....

Do note that in the main stream,  General Studies is in English. Maths is partly Chinese, partly English.

One more thing to remind. The chinese is taught in Mandarin and English is taught in full English. Sometimes it might be by the native speakers. So do take note of your child's language competency and prepare him/ her accordingly.

If you still have choice, will you prefer your children study in Tsung Tsin (Internation class) or Creative Primary School? Both of the school accepted my son but I just cant make up my mind to take which school for my son as I do find the benefit of the Tsung Tsin has in the internation class but I do worry he is not competitive enough to apply for band 1 primary....

Pls kindly comment or advise, thanks much.

Hi, be honest, if I still have choice, I would prefer to put my 2 boys in a good and formal international school as I find that interactive / expressive learning environment is much better for my 2 boys, and their English level is definitely much higher than Chinese. So I'm still looking for opportunities to transfer my boys to the international school. Well, it depends on what kind of school is more suitable for the character of your child. I'm not very familiar with Creative Primary School, but at least it looks much newer to me in terms of environment and facilities. But for me, in terms of language learning, I'm more convinced using Mandarin to teach Chinese subjects rather than a separate lesson to learn Mandarin. And it seems to be the case for Creative Primary School. I still think that the international section of Tsung Tsin Primary School is quite good. In terms of language environment, the teachers are native speakers. In terms of reading atmosphere, it's good. In terms of variety of extracurricular activities, a lot of choices for students. In terms of religious / moral atmosphere, it's good as well as it's the mission/vision of the school to teach students Bible. And most of the teachers have God's love for children. But in terms of school campus, it's not big and new enough. In terms of teaching methodology, Creative Primary School might be more creative and inspiring. It's true that even the international section of Tsung Tsing is not creative and interactive enough as the Principal is quite "stern" and "traditional". But for Tsung Tsing Secondary Schools, I don't think they are very good. For Creative Primary School, I know that there are secondary schools, which are quite good. In terms of tuition fee, Tsung Tsing should be $6000 something. But I don't know that of Creative Primary School. So u need to do all these comparisons. Bear in mind one thing, of course if you want to put your child in the International Section, your child should be able to understand and communicate in English; otherwise it's going to be difficult for him. Because the English books the school use are not the local English books. so the level of English is higher. My boy in P2 is writing poems, short stories and diary already. Have you sat for the interview for P1 already? If u have not, u really need to prepare your child in terms of English especially. My friend's son tried but failed.... so he is now studying in another local school.....
